Private and commercial owners and buildings in
long-term ownership or use

The AHF can only give financial support to organisations with charitable status and can't assist private owners.

If you do not represent a charity and would like general advice, please contact one of the amenity societies (SPAB, Georgian Group, Victorian Society, Twentieth Century Society) who are usually happy to help (see links page), or the conservation officer at your local authority.

If you are considering giving a historic building to a charity, please contact the AHF as early as possible.

The AHF policy is to help only projects involving a change of ownership and/or a change of use. Buildings in long-term ownership and use, like places of worship in current use, even if owned by charities, are not eligible for AHF help (see Financial help from the AHF). If you are a charity or religious building in use you may find help from Funds for Historic Buildings in England and Wales, Sources of Financial Help for Scotlands Historic Buildings and Directory of Funds for Historic Buildings – Northern Ireland.
